ABOUT
Particular Objects is a London based design studio primarily creating distinctive household objects and bespoke furniture, alongside interior design services.
Founded by designer Emma MacKean, the studio is interested in the objects that give a room its personality. She designs pieces with strong forms, unexpected colour and a sense of play, designed to be lived with and enjoyed. From original collections to custom commissions, each piece is developed with a focus on good design, quality and longevity.
Particular Objects sits alongside Emma’s art practice, Emma MacKean Art, through which she creates watercolours inspired by landscape, memory and the places that stay with us. Both practices are rooted in the same idea: that the things we surround ourselves with can shape how a space feels and how we are able experience it.

Emma studied Art & History of Art before completing an Interior Design Diploma at KLC School of Design. She has worked at respected interior design studios including Peter Mikic Studio, Anahita Rigby and Gunter & Co, contributing to high-end residential and commercial projects in the UK and internationally.
Her background across art, design and interiors informs the way she approaches both her objects and artwork, with a particular focus on colour, form, texture and the small details that give a piece its character.
Our top, and tiniest, assistant Ethel the Cavapoo keeps a watchful eye on every detail, offers moral support during long design days, and occasionally demands a biscuit break.
